Name : Tom Russo / Alias : Boston Globe
Director Tim Johnson ("Over the Hedge") and his animators can't maintain this level of freshness throughout, but that's where Parsons and his goofy charm take over.

Name : James Rocchi / Alias : TheWrap
As animated sci-fi for small fry, it's a success whose modest but well-executed ambitions are no small part of its charm.

Name : Jesse Hassenger / Alias : AV Club
DreamWorks movies are often about outsiders learning that they don't have to fit in, a lesson the filmmakers may not have absorbed themselves.

Name : Dana Rose Falcone / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
The combination of Home's layered message, fun score, and clever comedy make it a colorful choice for moviegoers of any age.

Name : Bilge Ebiri / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
A surprisingly moving tale of friendship and family, dressed up as an adorably frivolous sci-fi comedy.

Name : Maricar Estrella / Alias : Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com
Tim Johnson ( Antz) has capitalized on DreamWorks' proprietary animation platform, Apollo to create a rich, intricate setting. But the technology doesn't save the film from falling flat on other levels.

Name : Linda Barnard / Alias : Toronto Star
Aside from Parsons' initially amusingly mangled Yoda-like English, which gets a tad repetitive, Home doesn't stand out as fresh or particularly funny.

Name : Sara Stewart / Alias : New York Post
Like the timorous Boov, "Home" has little interest in risk-taking.

Name : Betsy Sharkey / Alias : Los Angeles Times
Tension is one of "Home's" biggest issues. There just isn't nearly enough of it. Story is another. Even a kids' movie needs more complexity and more invention.

Name : Barbara VanDenburgh / Alias : Arizona Republic
Lazy gags, and it's been done better elsewhere.

Name : Tom Huddleston / Alias : Time Out
Inoffensive but flavourless, and crammed with familiar elements from better movies like Lilo and Stitch , Toy Story and Despicable Me .

Name : Rafer Guzman / Alias : Newsday
The film moves quickly and keeps the jokes coming, which only means that "Home" would rather keep young viewers occupied than give them something to think about.

Name : Ben Sachs / Alias : Chicago Reader
Aggressive and cynical approach to children's entertainment, pummeling viewers with mechanical-looking action sequences (which suggest video game demos), unfunny one-liners, and overly loud pop songs and sound effects.

Name : Nancy Churnin / Alias : Dallas Morning News
Maybe it's because kids sometimes feel like aliens in a grown-up world, but from E.T. and Elliott to Lilo and Stitch, pairing a child with a creature from outer space can prove to be a winning combination.

Name : Soren Anderson / Alias : Seattle Times
It works moderately well thanks largely to the voice talents of Jim Parsons and, to a lesser extent, Steve Martin. Two droll dudes who put a fair share of funny into this animated picture.

Name : Lindsey Bahr / Alias : Associated Press
An earnest exercise that falls flat, despite the best of intentions.

Name : Neil Genzlinger / Alias : New York Times
A charming concoction with positive messages for younger children about conquering fears, understanding outsiders and knowing yourself.

Name : Christy Lemire / Alias : ChristyLemire.com
Heartwarming and harmless? Sure, why not. But it's also numbing in its simplicity and often rather annoying.

Name : Colin Covert / Alias : Minneapolis Star Tribune
The bland "Home" is a crash pad at best.

Name : Stephen Whitty / Alias : New York Daily News
The Gummi-colored animation is imaginative, but director Tim Johnson's ho-hum 3D cartoon remains strictly 1D.

Name : Richard Roeper / Alias : Chicago Sun-Times
Anyone over 10 will see the plot twists a mile away. Kids will probably enjoy the goofy Boovs, the rainbows of colors and the music. Call me a traditionalist, but I still say the world was a better place before those darn Boovs invaded.

Name : Peter Debruge / Alias : Variety
From a creative standpoint, this is the studio's least exciting feature yet - hardly its worst, execution-wise, but entirely lacking in the risk-taking spirit that has spawned such successful franchises as "Shrek," "Kung Fu Panda" and "Dragon."

Name : Sandie Angulo Chen / Alias : Washington Post
This kiddie sci-fi adaptation doesn't quite live up to its evocative title.

Name : Joe Williams / Alias : St. Louis Post-Dispatch
When we scratch beneath the sugary surface, there's something tart inside that's difficult to digest.

Name : Michael Phillips / Alias : Chicago Tribune
I brought a couple of my kids, who liked it fine and found the friendship at the center rather affecting.

Name : Claudia Puig / Alias : USA Today
Key characters are admirably diverse, but the fast-paced tale is thoroughly predictable.

Name : Michael Rechtshaffen / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
There may be no place like home, but there are a lot of places like Home, an animated adventure about the unlikely friendship between a lonely girl and an alien misfit that can't help but feel familiar.

Name : Geoff Pevere / Alias : Globe and Mail
A big, fat happy meal of a movie .

Comment For The Purge: Election Year Full Movie Full Hd

Peter Hartlaub Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Peter Hartlaub / Alias : Hearst Newspapers
The blunt instrument plot allows for a few sneaky moments of satire and social commentary lite.

Soren Anderson Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Soren Anderson / Alias : Seattle Times
No real answers are provided by writer-director James DeMonaco. He simply presents this bizarre dystopian future, and the audience is left to take it or leave it.

Tirdad Derakhshani Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Tirdad Derakhshani / Alias : Philadelphia Inquirer
In its own clumsy, exaggerated way, The Purge takes a strong stand against our cultural obsession with violence and our tendency to conflate justice with vengeance.

Nigel Floyd Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Nigel Floyd / Alias : Time Out
The film's would-be subversive ideas about the kneejerk appeal of social violence get lost in the mix.

Neil Young Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Neil Young / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
Gimmicky chiller lacks the robustness and distinction needed to support its social-commentary ambitions.

Stephen Whitty Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Stephen Whitty / Alias : Newark Star-Ledger
There's nothing you'd want to see again, particularly served up with all these shaky closeups and off-kilter angles and a cast mostly waiting - like us - for it to be over.

Kerry Lengel Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Kerry Lengel / Alias : Arizona Republic
"The Purge" is one of those unimaginative horror flicks that depend on skreeky music and sudden appearances to startle, but never actually frighten, the audience.

Peter Keough Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Peter Keough / Alias : Boston Globe
Somewhere between Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" and the "Family Guy" episode in which Peter Griffin joins the Tea Party lies "The Purge." Unfortunately, it's as funny as the former and as thoughtful as the latter.

Manohla Dargis Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Manohla Dargis / Alias : New York Times
The message just gets louder and louder, cruder and cruder, which is too bad because Mr. DeMonaco knows how to set a stage.

Peter Howell Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Peter Howell / Alias : Toronto Star
It's cultural commentary as blunt instrument - and as blunt instruments are wont to do, it achieves an end while making a bloody mess.

Michael O'Sullivan Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Michael O'Sullivan / Alias : Washington Post
A nutty if bloody lark, with a strange artificiality to the behaviors it portrays. That blunts the sharpness of any cultural critique it might aspire to.

Joshua Rothkopf Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Joshua Rothkopf / Alias : Time Out
The film morphs into a dull version of Straw Dogs .

Rene Rodriguez Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Rene Rodriguez / Alias : Miami Herald
The film has some vague things to say about class and racial differences, but they are drowned out by the sounds of blasting shotguns and huge knives being plunged into chests.

Rick Groen Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Rick Groen / Alias : Globe and Mail
Fans, gear up for rock-em-sock-em action, yet don't be disappointed if much of the goonery seems a bit tepid and, dare I say, staged.

Simon Abrams Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Simon Abrams / Alias : Chicago Sun-Times
Instead of being a creepy B-movie about the necessity of suppressing one's animalistic urges, "The Purge" is just a product of uninspired filmmaking.

Kristin Tillotson Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Kristin Tillotson / Alias : Minneapolis Star Tribune
Its premise requires more sophisticated layering for the audience to really get on board with the notion that people leading very comfortable lives will suddenly go on a murder bender just because they can.

Alan Scherstuhl Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Alan Scherstuhl / Alias : Village Voice
The set-up is arresting, the domestic scenes well observed and acted, and the payoffs involving that Roomba toy excellent. Also, a late-film twist isn't a surprise, exactly, but it is delicious.

Bilge Ebiri Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Bilge Ebiri / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
The Purge is not subtle. But why should it be? It's not a movie about class or morality, but about the need for violence - our own. We are the audience, after all, and we must be purged, too.

Joe Neumaier Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Joe Neumaier / Alias : New York Daily News
You hope for a purge to wipe away bad movies like this.

Leslie Felperin Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Leslie Felperin / Alias : Variety
That old horror-movie standard, a homestead besieged by psychos, gets remixed with a bit of Occupy-era class-conflict satire in the disappointing future-set thriller The Purge.

Claudia Puig Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Claudia Puig / Alias : USA Today
Audiences will feel the need for a good cleansing after experiencing The Purge.

Kevin C. Johnson Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Kevin C. Johnson / Alias : St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The great premise in "The Purge" - and it is a great premise, while being no "Hunger Games" - is squandered on a few levels.

Matt Patches Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Matt Patches / Alias : Film.com
A blunt takedown of 1%-er politics masquerading as a home invasion picture.

Lou Lumenick Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Lou Lumenick / Alias : New York Post
After a wickedly promising start, this pointed political satire quickly deteriorates into a fairly routine, if sporadically quite effective, home-invasion thriller.

David Thomson Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : David Thomson / Alias : The New Republic
If The Purge is as far-sighted as Network proved to be, we are in for very ugly times.

Rex Reed Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Rex Reed / Alias : New York Observer
DeMonaco clearly hopes to make a significant moral statement on the level of Shirley Jackson's literary masterpiece The Lottery. Alas, his aim at political conservatives who support the gun lobby falls flat before he can pull the trigger.

Ignatiy Vishnevetsky Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Ignatiy Vishnevetsky / Alias : AV Club
The Purge suffers from BioShock Syndrome: Its survive-at-all-costs plot and anti-libertarian slant are incompatible.

Peter Travers Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Peter Travers / Alias : Rolling Stone
Too bad the film devolves into a series of home-invasion cliches. The Purge was almost on to something.

Ian Buckwalter Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Ian Buckwalter / Alias : NPR
The Purge is mostly a genre picture trying to layer on some prestige by way of social commentary. The latter falls flat; the film is actually stronger when it just goes for our baser instincts.

James Berardinelli Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : James Berardinelli / Alias : ReelViews
When critics bemoan the dumbing down of movies, they're talking about stuff like The Purge.

Robert Abele Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Robert Abele / Alias : Los Angeles Times
A routine home invasion movie more interested in B-horror tropes and bloodletting than a thought-provoking look at "Hunger Games"-ish class warfare.

Chris Nashawaty Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Chris Nashawaty / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
The Purge clearly has a lot on its mind, but it never really manages to express it.

Rafer Guzman Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Rafer Guzman / Alias : Newsday
The vague posters for "The Purge" won't prepare you for how sharp and shockingly subversive this home-invasion flick can be.

Michael Sragow Comment The Purge Election Year

Name : Michael Sragow / Alias : Orange County Register
Writer-director James DeMonaco's The Purge fritters away its promise in lurid, frenzied violence.
